After a successful career, former endodontist Randy Griffin retired near Scottsdale, Arizona, and took on the challenge of building his dream home. To achieve his vision, he worked closely with his architect in search of quality materials capable of standing up to triple-digit temperatures. Despite the investment and custom design of other neighboring residential projects, he noticed a recurring problem that detracted from curb appeal. “They use a lot of brake metal to cover the fascia and around the windows,” Griffin said of similar luxury homes in the area. “The brake metal that I saw out here on multimillion-dollar houses looked anywhere from bad to awful. The oil canning is just tremendous.”
After considering and rejecting other products like fiber cement, which didn’t offer the desired smooth appearance, Griffin took his search to the internet and found ALPOLIC’s website.
“I liked everything I saw with the metal composite. It just made sense to me,” said Griffin. With a background in welding and machining, Griffin was drawn to the product and, believing ALPOLIC might be the solution for his fascia issues, he requested samples to find the right color.
After durability, compatibility with other elements of the house was a key factor in his selection. Griffin wanted materials that matched the specific color on the Fleetwood front doors and window frames. He found the perfect match in TOB Black.
With one problem solved, though, another arose. “I thought I was going to hit a dead end because this is a commercial product,” Griffin said. “Who’s going to fabricate this?”
When Griffin ran into roadblocks finding a fabricator willing to take on a residential project, he enlisted the aid of Steve Tatro, Manager of Architectural Sales for the Mountain States region. Tatro referred him to ALPOLIC Diamond Dealer Gen3 Construction. “They were super responsive,” Griffin said, noting the fabrication team understood his concerns about oil canning and provided a mockup of fabricated MCM as it would appear on his home.
Construction on Griffin’s home finished in late 2023. ALPOLIC MCM is featured on the fascia, clads the columns at the front entrance, and frames select windows vertically throughout the home.
Griffin is more than pleased with the look of his custom desert home and the resilience of the ALPOLIC. “This stuff is fantastic.”
