ALPOLIC™/ NC-US FAQs
ALPOLIC™/ NC-US has successfully been incorporated in an NFPA-285 compliant wall assembly system. The NC-US core has passed the ASTM E136 test for non-combustibility, and the MCM panel has an FSI <25 and SDI <450 when tested to ASTM E84.
Yes, we can take orders for any finish. All colors other than stock will be treated as custom and will have a 16-20 week lead time.
BNT Bone White, CNC Charcoal, SMX2 Silver Metallic, TOB Black, and JBR Bronze will be available at product launch.
Our initially available product will be 4mm thick and 62” (1575 mm) wide.
MCM with an FR core is a combustible product that, when evaluated and successfully tested in an NFPA 285 compliant wall assembly, can be used in certain non-combustible applications. The NC-US core material passes the non-combustible testing requirements of the E136 in addition to the NFPA 285.
4mm ALPOLIC™/ NC-US weighs 1.76 lbs/ft². 4mm ALPOLIC/fr weighs 1.52 lbs./ft².
Yes. The processing speed feed rate is 26 ft/min. The spindle feed speed is 20,000 RPM.
The profiling bit remains the same. The U-grooving bit has a different geometry, 90-110° with a 2.3-3.0 mm flat. This will create a bending radius of 1.5-2.0 mm. A folding jig should be used to bend the return legs.
The NC-US core is not as flexible as the other thermoplastic cores. Using a 3-roll bender, the smallest radius is approximately. 1500 mm R (59”). Bending for a small radius by means of a press brake is not recommended.
The initial production run is manufactured in Japan on specialized equipment with plans to expand production to Germany and the United States in the future.
NC-US has the same panel warranty and the same industry-leading finish warranty for route and return installations. The NC-US is not recommended for exposed-edge applications or perforations unless hemmed.
At this time, this product has only been tested in accordance with the US International Building Code.
Aluminum has high recycled content. We are exploring end-of-life product management to return both the skin and core to the recycling stream.
ALPOLIC™/NC-US has been tested and approved for use in the SAF C-4000, C-4200, and C-4500 rainscreen systems. For inquiries on qualifying additional systems, please contact our technical support team.
