We Are ALPOLIC: Meet Jack Finn

Jack Finn can enchant a room with a crooked grin. Personable and fun-loving, Jack sees himself first and foremost as an educator. Few people can speak to the history of metal composite materials as well as Jack, ALPOLIC’s category sales manager for all Eastern North America. MCM has been manufactured in the United States for over 30 years, and Jack has been in the industry just as long.

Born in Burlington, IA and a graduate from the University of Pittsburgh, he has crisscrossed the United States and Canada in sales roles for engineered plastics and building materials.  Jack loves to travel, calling on designers, architects, program managers and fabricators to assist in design and procurement of ALPOLIC MCM for the petroleum, signage, and specialty markets. “I just can’t sit around. It’s what’s kept me working.”

Jack’s strength lies in his experience. He knows the products and markets and can help stake holders find the best solutions. A wealth of knowledge, he takes pride in being an educator for his customers and co-workers alike. Having authored a three-part series on finish considerations, his white papers have re-framed how we talk about performance in architectural facades. While he finds the warranty piece the most important, the discussion on color measurement is his favorite.

What has changed in the market over the last three decades? According to Jack, the biggest change has come from the building codes. “The codes have addressed how to use the materials and the expected performance of the materials.” Jack has seen the types of paint systems improve, as well as an evolution in attachment systems and insulation. Jack hasn’t just witnessed this history, he has shaped it; and for many, he is the face of MCM.
