A Winning Finish: Woodgrain MCM Defines a New Era for PNW Casino
Growing popularity of the Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel necessitated an extensive expansion to accommodate the rising number of annual visitors. Increasing the property’s footprint while maintaining aesthetic unison with existing structures was a priority. ALPOLIC’s Timber Series MCM helped facilitate an iconic design that blends old with new.

Originally opened in 2008, the Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel, owned and operated by the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, found itself in need of more space due to its growing popularity not only in its local community but across the entire Pacific Northwest. Owners turned to the property’s initial design team at Bergman Walls & Associates to develop plans for the $400 million expansion.
“The focus was on harmonizing the new design with the existing structure and honoring the aesthetics of the Pacific Northwest and the Snoqualmie Tribe,” said Mary Lou Patterson, CEO of Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel.
The nearly 1.2 million-square-foot design included an extended gaming floor, new structures for entertainment, corporate meetings, conventions, and weddings, as well as a new multi-story 210-key high-end hotel with indoor/outdoor pool facilities, a full-service spa, and fitness center.

MCM Bridges Traditional and Contemporary Styles
For the new hotel tower, ALPOLIC Diamond Dealer CEI Materials fabricated more than 59,000 square feet of ALPOLIC® /fr metal composite material. The rich color and realistic wood-grain patterns of this finish complement the exterior cladding of the original casino.
“The façade of the new building matches the old building so seamlessly that it feels as though the new building is part of the original build,” said Patterson. Response has been overwhelmingly positive from guests, staff, and the community, with words like “beautiful, stunning, and gorgeous” used to describe the now completed project.

Seamless Collaboration & Strategic Coordination Bring Results
The specification process for this project was a collaborative effort among the architectural firm, the Snoqualmie Indian Tribe, and general contractor Skanska.
“Choosing a single supplier was of equal importance to ensure continuity between the architectural metal panel systems and the unitized curtain wall system,” said Patterson. “Every material used throughout the project was carefully evaluated. The Snoqualmie team assessed options based on aesthetic appeal, cost-effectiveness, and durability.”
“Delivering the Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel expansion was a deeply collaborative effort. The partnership with ALPOLIC Materials played an important role in achieving the Tribe’s vision for a modern, welcoming destination that feels rooted in the character of the Pacific Northwest,” added Tom Leptich, Project Executive, Skanska USA Building, Seattle. “Our partners at Harmon and McKinstry helped ensure the system performed beautifully within the broader façade strategy, and strategic coordination with ALPOLIC allowed us to stay within budget and maintain the project schedule and design cohesion. We’re grateful to the Snoqualmie team for their trust and proud to have contributed to a project that brings joy to the community.”
